The texture sprayer demo at a Reno job site made me ditch my hand trowel
Watched a guy knock out a ceiling in 20 minutes with a Graco while I was still taping corners, and the finish looked cleaner than anything I'd done by hand. Have any of you switched to spraying full time, or is it just me who feels behind the curve now?

Switched to spraying ceilings about three years back after watching the same kind of thing happen on a remodel. The trick for me was thinning the mud just a bit and keeping the pressure low so it lays down smooth instead of splattering, plus back rolling with a quick pass to knock out the lines. It takes a weekend to get the hang of, but once you do you won't want to pick up that trowel again.
