Pro tip: A Mexico City street repair changed my screen fix method

I saw a repairer there use clear tape and UV light on a hairline crack. It worked so well that I now use it for similar jobs here. What unusual techniques have you learned from repairs in other places?

The clear tape and UV light trick is interesting. What kind of UV light did they use, just a small handheld one? And was it a specific type of tape, or just regular clear packing tape?

My buddy used a cheap blacklight and basic scotch tape.

Honestly, that combo is way too hit or miss. A cheap blacklight might not put out the right wavelength to make things glow right. Regular clear tape can work, but the adhesive can mess with the result sometimes. You really need the short wave UV for most security features to pop. Seen it fail more than it works with random gear.
