That $15 hot air station I bought on clearance actually works better than my $200 one

I snagged a no-name rework station from a liquidation bin in Austin last month and figured it'd be a paperweight. Tried it on a stubborn BGA chip that my fancy Weller couldn't even budge and it flowed perfect on the first go. What's the most ridiculous cheap tool that surprised you?

Picked up a $20 heat gun from a hardware store once thinking I'd return it the same day. Thing still works three years later and has outlasted two expensive ones. The cheap one has a metal nozzle that doesn't melt and the airflow is actually more consistent. My $100+ heat gun has a plastic nozzle that warped on the second use. Sometimes the cheap stuff just gets the basics right without overengineering things. It's honestly frustrating when you spend good money and the budget option works better.

Bought a cheap heat gun at a flea market five years ago and it still melts paint like a pro, no warping.
