Can we talk about the new law in my country that made my secure chat group go quiet?
About six months ago, my government passed a rule saying all chat apps had to give them a way to read messages... I was in a small group of 15 people who talked about local politics. Before the law, we sent maybe 50 messages a day. After it, the chat just died. People were scared to talk. We switched to a more secure app, but half the group never came back. It felt like the room got smaller overnight. Has anyone else seen a law change just shut down a whole conversation like that?

My group of 20 shrank to 5 after a similar law.

I saw the same thing happen at my local library's book club last year. They started requiring library cards for the meeting room and half the regulars just stopped coming. It feels like every new rule, even a small one, pushes a few more people out until the group is just a shell of what it was.
