I lost a full day's work trying to find a banned 1980s union song online
I was writing about labor history for a project and heard about a protest song from a 1985 UK miners' strike that was pulled from radio play. I spent about eight hours digging through old forums and sketchy download links, hitting dead ends and virus warnings. It turned out the only real copy was on a cassette tape in a university archive I couldn't access. Has anyone else run into a wall trying to find censored music like that?

Ugh that's the worst kind of internet rabbit hole. You go from a normal search to digging through some sketchy 2006 forum where the last post is from a guy named "MinerMike43" who swears he has the mp3 but the link just gives your computer a cold. All that time for a song trapped on a tape in a basement somewhere. Classic.

Trapped on a tape" is so true. Olivia_hill nailed that ghost town feeling.

Right? It's like the whole internet is turning into a ghost town of dead links. You find the perfect recipe, click it, and it's gone. Or a news article from last year just poof, 404. Makes you wonder what we're actually building here, you know? All this stuff just vanishes and we're left with broken paths to nowhere. Feels like we're losing bits of history every single day.
