Keeping a water bottle in my apron stopped my afternoon crashes
I used to get so tired after lunch that I'd make dumb mistakes with the molds. Then I read that dehydration can hit you hard in hot places like our foundry. Now I always have a full water bottle in my apron pocket and take sips between tasks. It sounds small, but I haven't had that fuzzy feeling in my head for weeks. My focus is better, and I don't drag through the last hours of my shift. Maybe it could help you too if you work near the furnaces all day.

Yep, salt is the whole game.
That fuzzy head feeling is pure dehydration, but like you said, water alone won't cut it if you're sweating buckets. Your body just flushes it. I grab a salty snack with my water now, or those little electrolyte packets. Makes a huge difference. You gotta replace what the heat steals.

Notice you're right about the water, but if you're sweating a lot near the furnaces, you might be losing salts too. Plain water can sometimes flush out what little you have left. I saw a guy at my old shop drink water all day but still get weak until he ate some pretzels. Might be worth having a salty snack with your water, or one of those cheap sports drink mixes. Just a thought.

Wait, he was drinking water all day but still got weak? That’s wild. Only a handful of pretzels fixed him up? Makes sense though, with that furnace heat just baking the salt right out of you.
