TIL that labeling my garage bins saved me from wasted time
I used to spend ages digging through my garage for stuff I needed for jobs. Last weekend, I got some cheap labels and marked all my bins. Now, everything has a place, from nails to paint brushes. Setting up for a project takes half the time it used to. That means I can start work sooner and meet tight deadlines. It hit me that the same idea works for my computer files. Keeping things sorted lets me focus on the work, not the hunt. Freelancing feels less stressful when you're not always searching.

Honestly, I see it a bit different. Labels are great until you're in a hurry and just toss a tool in the wrong bin. Then the whole system is broken. I agree with @charles_black24 about things migrating, so for me, the bin itself has to be super obvious, like a clear front or a specific shape for each type of item. Labels alone don't always stop the mess.

Yeah, my garage is a disaster zone (I swear things migrate when I'm not looking). Labeling everything is such a simple fix, but it makes all the difference.

You're right about things migrating, it's like my garage has a secret life. I labeled my bins "electrical" and "plumbing" but I keep finding a hammer in with the wire nuts. My system is a polite suggestion my stuff ignores.
