inDebating whether to bring my teen on summer dredge runs
Wait, you're seriously considering putting a teenager on a dredge? That's some seriously heavy, dangerous work even on the calmest inland job. Sure, learning a trade is good, but that environment is no joke with all the moving parts and water hazards. My cousin did something similar and still has the scar from a snapped cable. Maybe start them on the shore moving equipment, not on the barge itself.

inI stick to borosilicate for its strength, but a lot of folks are making beautiful things with softer glass. Which camp are you in?
Exactly, it's all about the use case. That soda-lime glass might have perfect clarity for display pieces, but I've seen it crack just from washing it in water that was a bit too warm. Borosilicate can take that thermal shock and the general bumps of daily use without a second thought.

inMoral pinch: Haggling too hard with street food vendors
Does that kind of guilt ever hit you out of nowhere? It's like our brains save those moments to remind us to be better. Don't beat yourself up over it, we've all been there.
