Just found out my landlord can't ban my emotional support dog in Santa Ana
I was digging through the HUD guidelines because my landlord threatened to evict me over my ESA. Turns out California Civil Code 54.2 and federal Fair Housing Act both protect ESAs even in no-pet buildings. My landlord tried to say I needed a special license but that's total BS. Has anyone else here had to fight their landlord over this in Orange County?

Wait till you realize landlords pull stuff like this all the time just hoping you don't know the rules. It's like they bank on us being too busy to look things up, isn't it?

My old neighbor had a cat she registered as an ESA and the landlord still tried to kick her out. Turned out he just didn't want to deal with pets at all and figured she'd leave without a fight. She ended up staying after showing him the HUD printout.
