During a zoning meeting, my attempt to clarify a point was drowned out by a kazoo protest
I was at the local council session about park renovations, and just as I raised my hand to ask about lighting fixtures, a group of activists started playing kazoos to symbolize 'hearing us out' (which, ironically, made everything inaudible). The chairperson's futile gavel-banging combined with the off-key tooting created such a surreal tableau that I couldn't help but laugh. Has a seemingly serious political gathering ever devolved into pure slapstick for you too?

Consider if zoning merits that much drama.

Absolutely classic case of civic engagement gone hilariously awry. The mental image of gavel-banging versus kazoos is something straight out of a SATIRICAL cartoon. @seanadams might question if zoning warrants such theater, but this proves that sometimes the process achieves PEAK absurdity. I once witnessed a budget meeting devolve when a protester released a bag of crickets to symbolize 'hidden noise' in the figures. Nothing cuts through bureaucratic pomp like the humble kazoo, a truly DEMOCRATIC instrument of chaos.

Used to think zoning meetings were just bureaucratic noise, but that kazoo chaos actually highlights why people engage. It’s absurd, but it works.
