Unpopular opinion: I used to chase realistic VR, but a silly game changed my view
I used to believe VR had to copy real life to be good. Then I spent time in a simple, cartoonish VR world. It was more fun and less tiring than the ultra-real ones. Now I look for worlds with unique style over perfect graphics. I mean, maybe it's just me, but that switch helped me enjoy VR more.

Ever wonder if our want for real life VR holds back wild new ideas? Like grant_baker9 said about simple being better, maybe chasing real stops us from getting cool stuff we can't even imagine yet.

Fr, had the exact same thing happen with a goofy vr puzzle game. It was all simple shapes and bright colors, nothing like the real world. But I got so hooked, way more than any hyper-realistic sim. Really shows that style beats realism every time.

Yeah, that totally tracks with a lot of tech stuff. Sometimes the simple, focused experience is just better than the one that tries to do everything perfectly. I've found the same with a bunch of apps and games lately.
