inI thought talking to my plants was silly until my basil in Austin grew twice as big.
Hey, if talking to your plants is crazy then my whole apartment is a NUT HOUSE. At least your spider plant is getting watered, mine just gets my complaints about the weather.

inHot take: I thought ultrasonic cleaners were a gimmick for camera parts until this old Leica
Yeah but "too quick to call something a gimmick" feels off. A lot of new stuff is just repackaged old ideas with a higher price tag. Lens charts have a real use, they fix a real problem. But so much new gear just creates a problem to sell the solution. I get being open minded, but I've wasted money on things that were absolutely gimmicks. Sometimes that first gut feeling is right.

inShowerthought: I just found out how many old hard drives are still out there with data on them
That 60% number is wild but honestly not that shocking. I always wonder what happens to those old office computers when a company shuts down or upgrades. Like, do they just get tossed in a dumpster with everyone's payroll files still on them? What's the worst kind of data you've actually seen left behind on a drive you were supposed to wipe?

inJust tried a 3D pattern drafting app after years of paper and my mind is blown
That's the classic tech trade-off, speed versus feel. You see it everywhere from digital books to online banking. The old way's charm often loses to pure convenience.
