Honestly, my $40 air fryer basket liner was a total waste of money
I bought one of those silicone liners last year thinking it would make cleanup easier for things like chicken wings. Tbh, it just made everything steam instead of crisp up, even after I poked holes in it. My wings came out soggy and pale, not crispy and golden like they do right on the rack. I tried it three times with different foods and it was the same disappointing result every time. Has anyone found a good liner that actually works, or is going liner-free just the better move?

Actually, the whole liner idea might be fighting the basic point of an air fryer. Those things work by moving hot air all around the food really fast. Putting a solid or mostly solid layer under it just blocks that air flow from the bottom, which is why stuff steams. Maybe it's just me but I've never seen a liner that lets enough air through to get a real crisp without also letting all the grease drip down anyway, which defeats the cleanup purpose. Going liner-free is annoying to scrub sometimes, but at least the food turns out right.
