inA customer at the shop argued that a $20 chain checker is a waste of money
It's the same with tire pressure gauges or torque wrenches... people try to save a few bucks and end up costing themselves way more. That cheap tool becomes the most expensive part when it leads to a bigger mistake. We see it everywhere now, trying to eyeball stuff that really needs a simple, clear measurement. Just makes you wonder why we fight the small, smart buys that prevent the big, dumb costs.

inFound a cheap way to keep my clipper blades from getting too hot, just wrap them in a cold wet towel for a minute between clients
Noticed this a lot lately. People finding simple fixes for small problems. Like using a binder clip to keep a phone cord from falling off a desk. Or a bit of tape on a wobbly table leg. @iris_adams is right about the damp towel, it's that kind of hack. Just using what's already around. Makes more sense than buying some special product for every little thing.

inSpent about 300 yuan on a proper tea set after years of using a mug, and it completely changed how I taste pu'erh.
My whole life might just be a placebo, honestly (which would explain a lot).

inGot a 30-day ban from a local group for posting a photo of a protest sign
Ever had a mod shut down a thread you thought was important? I got around that once by starting a separate group chat with the most active people from the thread. We kept the talk going there without clogging up the main page. It actually worked better because everyone who joined really wanted to be there.

inHonestly, my $40 air fryer basket liner was a total waste of money
Actually, the whole liner idea might be fighting the basic point of an air fryer. Those things work by moving hot air all around the food really fast. Putting a solid or mostly solid layer under it just blocks that air flow from the bottom, which is why stuff steams. Maybe it's just me but I've never seen a liner that lets enough air through to get a real crisp without also letting all the grease drip down anyway, which defeats the cleanup purpose. Going liner-free is annoying to scrub sometimes, but at least the food turns out right.
