Appreciation post: The muffler shop guy who saved my trip outside Fairbanks

I was 30 miles from Fairbanks on the Dalton Highway last November when my muffler dropped clean off the frame. Limped into a shop where the owner welded it back with scrap metal for 40 bucks cash. Has anyone else had a random roadside fix hold up better than the original part?

Same zip ties held my exhaust pipe on for two whole years.

That scrap metal fix is probably stronger than the original welds.
