Hit 63 miles on the Resurrection Pass trail last week and my knees have thoughts
I have been hiking Alaska trails for about 8 seasons now and never gone past 40 miles on a single trip. Last week I did Resurrection Pass from Hope to Cooper Landing over 4 days and hit 63 miles total, which caught me off guard because I felt fine until mile 50. My left knee started making a clicking noise on the last descent and now I am wondering if I pushed too hard or just need better insoles. For folks who do these longer thru-hikes in Alaska, do you swap boots mid-trip or just tough it out? Also curious if anyone has done this route in the other direction and whether the grade is easier that way.
