Learned the hard way about cheap boat heaters in Homer

Bought a $60 portable propane heater for my skiff last October to stretch out the season. Worked great for about 2 trips, then the regulator froze up solid near the Spit and I had to row back in 20 degree wind. Spent another $80 on a proper marine heater after that. The cheap one now sits in my garage as a reminder. Anyone else get burned by budget gear up here or is it just me?

Funny, my cheap heater lasted 4 seasons out at Seldovia, so maybe the regulator just got a bad batch.
