Hit 500 tree removals last week. Didn't feel like a big deal until I did the math.

Been climbing for 8 years. 500 trees cut down. That's like a whole forest worth. Started thinking about how many stumps I ground too. Easy to lose count when you're just grinding through the day. Anyone else keep a tally or am I just weird about numbers?

Wait, you actually kept count that whole time? I used to think tracking stuff like that was pointless busywork, just another thing to do when you're already tired. But after a few years of doing removals myself, I get it now. There's something real about seeing the numbers add up, like proof that all those hours in the rain and the heat actually mean something. Makes you realize how much you've put into the trade without even thinking about it.

It's not that deep, @eva_ward88. Numbers are just numbers at the end of the day. You're not some kind of philosopher because you wrote down how many stumps you pulled last year. I bet half those notebooks got rained on and turned into mush anyway. Plus who needs a tally to know they worked hard your back will tell you that every morning.

Hang on. You actually DID count? For years? That's insane to me. I mean, I get tracking inventory or whatever. But stumps? Every single one? I've yanked hundreds myself and never once thought to write it down. My back keeps score well enough. Rain turning them to mush is the least of it. That's a whole different level of dedication.
