Talking to a 70 year old maple tapper in Vermont changed how I look at tree wounds
He told me he's been drilling the same trees for 40 years and they're still producing, which got me thinking about how we over-prune and seal cuts when maybe we should just let the tree do its thing.

Got a 5-gallon bucket from Home Depot for mine. Drill hole at slight angle so sap runs downhill not back into tree.
