Warning: Took me 6 hours to fix a door that should have taken 20 minutes

Last Saturday I decided to finally fix the bedroom door that's been sticking for months. I thought it was just a simple sand down of the edge situation. Well, I took the door off, sanded it, put it back, and it still wouldn't close right. Turns out the hinge pins were bent from years of the door being forced shut. By the time I drove to the hardware store, got new pins, realized the screw holes were stripped, bought wood filler and longer screws, and got everything level again, it was dinner time. Six hours for one dumb door. Has anyone else run into a simple home repair that just snowballed way past what you expected?

Hinge pins are usually fine to reuse... just tap em flat with a hammer.

Yeah six hours of regret sounds about right for any "quick fix" around the house.
