Vent: The new regional airport in Bend has the worst avionics bay layout I've ever seen
I was out there for a quick turnaround job on a King Air last month. Their main avionics bench is shoved right next to a rolling hangar door, so you get a cold draft every time it opens (which is a lot). The test equipment rack is a solid 20 feet from the bench, so you're walking back and forth all day just to hook up a signal generator. Who designs a shop like that? Has anyone else had to deal with a repair station layout that just fights you at every step?

Ugh, I just bring my own long test leads and a space heater.

Actually, long test leads can mess with your signal readings on sensitive avionics gear, especially for digital buses. The extra wire length adds capacitance and can cause signal integrity problems. It's a band-aid fix that might create more work later when a test result looks off. Better to just suffer the walk to the proper rack, honestly.
