Shoutout to the guy who thinks free speech means you can post anything anywhere

Saw a thread where someone was mad their violent meme got taken down from a kids' app. That's not a free speech issue, it's a platform's rules. The real fight is when political satire gets scrubbed from major networks for 'hate speech' just because it criticizes a government. Anyone else see that happen with the 'Strongman' cartoon about the leader in Singapore?

Had a customer in a Denver suburb who insisted I run the coax through his pet door

I was setting up a new line for his home theater system last fall, and he pointed to the little flap in his back door. He said, 'It's already a hole, right? Just feed it through there, it'll save you time.' I had to explain that a standard pet door flap would chew through the cable in about a week. He looked genuinely surprised and asked, 'But what about the cold air getting in?' What's the strangest 'shortcut' a customer has ever suggested to you?

Just realized my new zircon sand additive is causing way more smoke than expected

I switched to a different brand of zircon sand for facing molds last week, and the pour area got so smoky we had to pause production. I learned the new stuff has a much lower ignition point than my old supplier's blend. Has anyone else run into this and found a good way to manage the fumes without switching back?

A stubborn flange on a 4-inch steam line wouldn't seat right

The gasket kept pinching, even after three attempts with a new one. Out of frustration, I lightly coated the gasket faces with a thin layer of dish soap instead of the usual dry method. It slid into place perfectly on the first torque-down and held a 150 psi test for an hour with zero weep. I'm not saying it's code, but it got the job done when nothing else would. Anyone have a more proper fix for a flange that just won't cooperate?

My boss told me to always use the OEM thermal paste on gaming rigs, but I found a $8 tube that works better.

He insisted for years that generic paste caused overheating, but after testing temps on five different builds, the cheap stuff actually dropped my averages by 3 degrees Celsius. Anyone have a go-to paste they swear by for client systems?

Vent: The new regional airport in Bend has the worst avionics bay layout I've ever seen

I was out there for a quick turnaround job on a King Air last month. Their main avionics bench is shoved right next to a rolling hangar door, so you get a cold draft every time it opens (which is a lot). The test equipment rack is a solid 20 feet from the bench, so you're walking back and forth all day just to hook up a signal generator. Who designs a shop like that? Has anyone else had to deal with a repair station layout that just fights you at every step?
