Went from a messy CRM to a single Google Sheet and saw my close rate jump 40%

I was using a fancy CRM for about 8 months and honestly hated every second of it. It had too many bells and whistles that nobody on my small team actually used. So I moved everything over to a single Google Sheet with just four columns last quarter. My response time to leads dropped from like 4 hours to under 30 minutes. Idk if it's just me but simpler tools seem to work way better for small B2B teams. Has anyone else ditched a paid tool for something basic and seen better results?

I used to be one of those people who thought you needed the expensive tools to look professional. Had a CRM that cost like $80 a month per seat and spent more time clicking through dropdowns than actually talking to people. Switched to a plain text file and a shared spreadsheet last year and my follow up rate went way up. Still feels weird admitting that a Google Doc works better than something that cost hundreds of dollars.

That's the thing nobody talks about. The expensive tools just add layers between you and the actual work. It's like they're designed for managers to watch dashboards, not for salespeople to sell stuff. Your numbers proving it matters more than any slick interface. Seriously, respect for making that call. Most people would have just kept paying and complaining.
