I dropped $80 on a super lightweight tent that leaked on night one

I was so convinced I needed that ultralight Big Agnes tent for the Pacific Crest Trail. Spent $80 just on the footprint and seam sealing supplies, thinking I was saving weight. First real rainstorm near Mount Whitney and I woke up in a puddle at 2 AM. Took me 3 days to dry everything out and I ended up buying a heavier tent in Bishop. Anyone else fall for the hype on those thin-wall ultralight shelters?

Sounds like you got a lemon or messed up the seam sealing. Those Big Agnes tents hold up fine if you set them up right and actually seal the seams properly. I've used mine through plenty of storms without a single drop inside. Maybe you rushed the prep or got a bad batch of sealant. Gear fails sometimes, but blaming the whole idea of lightweight tents is a stretch.

Just seems like a lot of hassle for a tent... mine's heavy but it just works.
