Worst stretch I ever had was day 3 on the Appalachian Trail in Virginia

I hit a rock slide that added four extra miles and then my filter clogged from a muddy stream. Has anyone else had a single day totally wreck their planned route?

I got lost for an extra six hours on the Ozark Trail in Missouri once because I took a wrong turn at a deer trail, and by the time I found the path again I had to pitch my tent in the dark next to a creek. It completely threw off my next two days of hiking.
