Just read that contactless payments jumped 40% in my city since 2022
I was looking at a report from our local business association about spending habits. It said tap-to-pay transactions in Portland went from about 3 million a month to over 4.2 million in just two years. I knew it was popular, but that's a huge jump. I guess I'm part of that stat because I almost never use my physical card anymore. It makes me wonder if banks are pushing this tech harder than I realized. Has your bank been promoting contactless payments a lot lately?

Yeah, that "huge jump" stat really got me thinking. I read an article last week that said banks are actually saving a ton of money on fraud with these chips, so they WANT us to tap. It's not just about being fancy. My credit union sent a whole email about how tap is "safer" than swiping, which I guess makes sense.

Honestly, my bank could be sending me glitter bombs about it and I'd miss it. I still get paper statements because I never check the app. My move to tap-to-pay was less about their promotion and more about me being lazy. It's just easier to wave my phone than to dig a card out of my wallet.
