Had to pick between a VPN and not accessing a blocked news site
Two weeks ago my ISP blocked a German news site I read daily. I had the choice of paying $10/month for a VPN or just giving up on that source. Got the VPN and now I can read their reporting on EU censorship bills again. Anyone else run into this where your provider suddenly blocks something?

It's not just ISPs playing games with this stuff. I noticed last month my phone carrier started throttling certain streaming sites unless I paid extra for their "premium data" package. No warning, just suddenly buffering everything. Calling them did nothing, they said it's for network management. So now I'm using a VPN on my phone too just to watch stuff I could watch before without any hassle. The whole thing feels like they're testing what they can get away with before someone pushes back legally.

But isn't it fair for them to manage their network traffic when you're using way more data than your plan allows... I mean, they gotta prioritize something, right?
