Why did Turkey block Wikipedia for almost 3 years?
Turkey blocked all of Wikipedia from April 2017 to January 2020, and I only heard about it from a friend in Istanbul. What other everyday sites have whole countries shut down, and did people you know find ways around it?

Did your friend actually use a VPN to get around it, or did most people just stop bothering after a while? Turkey wasn't alone either, I remember China blocking tons of sites and Iran doing the same kind of thing.
