I bought a 'clean' copy of 'The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian' for my niece and only noticed the missing chapters after she asked why the book felt so short.
Has anyone else been burned by these sanitized versions that just remove the entire reason a book gets challenged in the first place?

Feel your pain, that's a gut punch for any reader.

Gut punch is a bit much, right? It's just a book, not real life. People get way too deep into fictional drama sometimes. The character will probably be fine by the next chapter anyway. Getting that upset over a story seems like an overreaction.

I mean, I get where you're coming from, but sometimes a book just hits you right in the feels, you know? Not everyone's the same with how stories affect them.
