Our library's 'challenged books' display got taken down after a single complaint
It was up for less than a week before a parent called it 'indoctrination.' I'm torn because I get wanting to protect kids, but removing the whole display feels like giving in to censorship. Has your local library faced pushback for highlighting banned books?

Seriously, one complaint? They folded that fast over a single phone call? That's not protecting kids, that's just letting one person decide what everyone gets to see.

That's so frustrating to hear. It feels like a real loss for the whole community when one voice gets to shut down a conversation for everyone. Our local branch had a similar issue last year with a teen book display that included a graphic novel about identity. A couple of complaints got it moved to a back corner, which basically hid it. It just makes the library feel less open and less like a place for learning.
