My buddy told me to stop posting about the city's new traffic plan on Nextdoor

He said the mods there were super touchy and I'd get flagged... I didn't listen and posted my concerns anyway. Two days later, I got a 30-day ban for 'spreading misinformation' about the roundabout project. Now I just talk about it on my own blog and a smaller community forum. Anyone else get silenced for trying to discuss something happening in their own town?

Yeah, "spreading misinformation" is just their fancy way of saying they don't like your opinion. Nextdoor mods act like unpaid hall monitors on a power trip. Your blog is the move, nobody can ban you from your own site. I got booted from a local group for asking why the new park benches cost so much, guess that was "disruptive.

The park bench thing is a perfect example. They probably spent like two grand per bench and got mad you noticed. These mods treat any real question like you're yelling fire in a crowded theater. My local group banned a guy for posting a photo of a pothole, called it "targeted harassment" of the road. Starting your own blog is the only way to actually talk to your neighbors without some random retiree playing internet cop.
