I finally tried that 'room temperature butter' rule for cookies after ignoring it for a decade.

Took me a while, honestly. I had to see how it played out in practice, not just theory.

My whole view on using hot glue for repairs changed after a rainy Tuesday

Ngl @leo_kelly, what's the exact rice to water ratio you use for that paste?

Changed my mind about using water to cool a hot mold

Man, that loud crack sound is the worst, isn't it? I felt my stomach drop just reading your story. We had a guy do the exact same thing to a big aluminum plate years back. That sudden temperature change is just brutal on the metal. Letting it sit with fans is slow, but you're right, it's the safe play. That's a tough, expensive lesson to learn.

Serious question, is everyone just overcomplicating deck footings?

Renting that auger is a no brainer for a deck that size, matthew_lee42. The soil around here has more rocks than a quarry, and hitting one by hand will stop you cold. The rental cost is cheaper than a single visit to the chiropractor. Just make sure you have a friend to help manage the torque, those things have a mind of their own.

I saw a demo at a tech meetup in Austin where an AI wrote a full song in under two minutes.

Wait, the vocal track still sounds flat? That's the part they can't fix yet? Man, that's wild. I heard a clip from that new AI band project and the chorus just had zero feeling, like a robot reading a grocery list. If the tech still can't get the human wobble in a voice right, how is that ever gonna replace a real singer belting it out? Sounds like a fancy karaoke machine, not a hit song.
