Remembering a small town library in Ohio that pulled a book display I made
Back in 2018, I volunteered at my local library in Chillicothe and set up a display for Banned Books Week. I included a few modern titles that had been challenged in schools. The head librarian took it down the next day, saying it was 'too political' for the space. It felt like a quiet way of telling me to stop talking about the topic. I just started a small blog instead to share lists and stories about censorship. Has anyone else had a simple project shut down like that?

Heard about a friend who tried to put up a poster for a community clean-up day at her town hall. Someone took it down overnight, calling it a "statement" about local government. It's wild how even basic community stuff gets read as a challenge sometimes.

Read as a challenge" feels like a stretch. Could be someone just didn't like the poster being there, maybe it was on a board it wasn't supposed to be on. People take stuff down all the time for dumb reasons that have nothing to do with politics. Jumping to the idea that it's some big statement about fear of government seems like looking for drama where there might not be any.

Used to think people were just lazy but this shows real fear.
