Vent: Had a prof shut down a debate about campus parking fees because it got 'too heated'

Ngl this one stuck with me, a kid in my poli sci class tried to argue the fees were just a cash grab and the professor said we were moving on because it wasn't a 'productive discussion' about 3 minutes in. Has anyone else had a professor just kill a topic because they didn't like where it was going?

Had a similar thing happen in my own poli sci class years back. The prof just let one student dominate and then ended it, so I started writing down my points and asking to speak at the end of class. That way I could lay out my thoughts calmly without the heat.

Same thing happens in PTA meetings, neighborhood groups, even family dinners. People who talk LOUD and FAST always drown out the quiet voices, no matter how good their points are.
