How long do you let your clipper blades cool down between cuts?

Tbh I got a busy Saturday last month where I booked back to back fades for like 5 hours straight. Around the 3rd cut I noticed my Andis Master was getting hot enough to where I could barely touch the blade. I kept going but the last 2 cuts came out choppy and I had to clean them up with my trimmer way more than usual. Now I'm wondering if I'm supposed to let them rest 10 minutes or something between heads. Do you guys swap out blades mid shift or just run them hot?

Took me burning my own damn earlobe once to learn that lesson. Running a hot blade is like trying to cut butter with a glowing knife, it just makes a mess. Swapping out every two cuts is the move, no shame in having a backup blade getting cold on the counter. Either that or just keep going and have your clients start calling you “Smoky” for all the wrong reasons.

Used to think running hot was no big deal but yeah after ruining a couple cuts with a scorching blade I started swapping blades every 2 heads just let them cool on the counter while I keep working.

Four fades in with a hot blade and I pretty much ruined a kid's lineup, had to explain to his mom why it looked like I used a lawnmower. @henrygrant is right about the backup blade thing, I keep two on the counter now and swap every other head without even thinking about it. You'll save way more time in the long run not having to clean up choppy cuts later.
