Got a permanent ban from a car forum for posting a repair photo

A mechanic friend told me to always blur the license plate in any picture I post online. I forgot once on a Ford truck forum, showing a fix for a rusted frame. The mods said it was a privacy violation and banned me immediately, no warning. Anyone else get hit with a ban for something that seemed minor?

Wait, how is a license plate in a repair shot a real privacy issue? It's just a public plate on a truck, not like you posted their home address. Seems like an overreaction to ban someone for a first-time mistake.
