Hit 500 spoke tension adjustments on the truing stand last month and my hands finally learned what 'ping' sounds right.
Took me about 4 years of part-time wrenching to get there, but now I can hear a loose spoke from across the shop and it made me wonder how many wheel builds it takes before you stop second-guessing your own ears, anyone else hit a weird milestone like that?

Across the shop? That's some Jedi level hearing right there.

Gotta agree there, that's some serious auditory focus. You can usually hear a phone vibrating or a soft beep from a couple aisles over if the store's quiet, but "across the shop" like that is next level. I wonder if it's more about pattern recognition than actual super hearing though, like your brain just tunes into that specific frequency because you're constantly listening for it. Either way, it's a good reminder to put my phone on silent when I'm shopping, especially if I'm trying to be sneaky about grabbing something off the clearance rack without my wife noticing.
