I finally figured out why my chain was slipping on every hill climb
Spent all last Tuesday trying to chase down a slipping chain on my commuter bike. Took the cassette off three times, cleaned everything, even swapped the chain. Then I noticed the derailleur hanger was bent maybe 2 degrees from a crash last month. Straightened it with a cheap alignment tool from Amazon and it shifted like new. I still cant believe I wasted 4 hours on something that simple. Anyone else have a bike that drove them crazy over a tiny fix like that?

Oh man, I feel your pain. I spent a whole afternoon once trying to fix a creaking bottom bracket only to find out my pedals were just loose. I tightened them with a hex key and felt like a total idiot for not checking that first. It's always the simple stuff that gets you, isn't it?

Ha, seriously? A whole afternoon? I don't know @lopez.brooke, a creak is just a creak. I've ridden bikes with noises for weeks. Tighten stuff, ride it. If it moves, you fix it. If not, you buy a new part. It's not that deep, man.
