My shop timer trick for wheel truing

Used to take me 20 minutes trying to get a wheel perfectly straight. Started setting a 5 minute timer and stopping when it goes off, even if it's not perfect. Has anyone else tried a hard cutoff for jobs that eat up too much time?

Whoa, I gotta ask - how do you keep from obsessing over that last little wobble when the timer goes off? I feel like with wheel truing, the difference between 95% straight and 100% straight is like 2 seconds of work but my brain treats it like it's two hours. Do you just walk away and hope it's good enough to ride, or do you mark the rim and come back to check it later?

Two hours on a single wobble?

That "good enough is good enough" line hits different after a long day, @margaretw41.
