Everyone loves The Bear but I think season 2 was a mess

I keep hearing people say it's the best show on TV but I almost quit halfway through the season. The episode where they just sit around talking about forks for 45 minutes felt like filler to me. Am I the only one who thought that dragged on way too long?

Stick with me here but that fork episode was actually the heart of the whole season for me. It showed how much the characters care about the small stuff behind the scenes, the stuff nobody sees. That whole conversation was just them building trust and figuring out why they even care about the restaurant. It was slow on purpose, like real life when you're stuck in the weeds with your crew and you just gotta talk it out. I felt like it earned every minute of that conversation by the time the season wrapped.

Rolled my eyes through that fork episode too.

Bet someone a fork that conversation was actually a coded job interview. They weren't just talking about table settings, they were testing each other's loyalty and work ethic under pressure. The whole slow pace was a stress test to see who'd crack first and walk out. Nobody else seems to notice how that scene sets up who sticks around for the big drama later. It's basically the quiet version of a trust fall but with silverware.
