Hot take: binging old shows is way better than new ones

I started rewatching The West Wing last week after my buddy told me I was missing out on good storytelling. Turns out, skipping the 2020s dramas and going back to 1999 episodes actually made me enjoy the pacing more because there's no filler. Anyone else find older series easier to get lost in than the shiny new stuff?

Missing out on good storytelling" is spot on. Old shows had writers, not algorithms.

Right? Now they're just remaking the same show with worse jokes.

Honestly, I gotta push back a little here. I think the old shows had their moments but a lot of them were just as formulaic, just with a different vibe. Some of the new reboots actually try new things with the characters or setting, like mixing up the jokes for a modern audience. It's not all worse, it's just different. And saying writers vs. algorithms feels too black and white - plenty of old shows were written by committees churning out safe jokes too. I just think there's room for both, you know?
