Rant: I just found out how much money that big fantasy show actually lost
I was reading a trade report and saw that the final season of that huge, popular fantasy show had a net loss of over $50 million for the studio. Everyone talks about it like it was a cash cow, but the numbers show it wasn't. Has anyone else seen stats that flipped their view of a 'successful' show?

I always assumed Game of Thrones printed money for HBO. Seeing that final season actually lost tens of millions was a real shock. It makes you wonder how many other "hits" are just keeping the lights on.

My buddy worked on a big budget Netflix show that got tons of hype. They spent so much on reshoots and marketing the profit was basically zero. It really shows how the numbers behind these shows can be a total mirage.
