Dropped $400 on a used EEG headset from a guy on Craigslist and it barely reads anything
Saw a listing in Houston for a Muse headband, drove 40 minutes to meet him, and he swore it worked fine when he used it last year. Got it home, charged it, downloaded the app, and it keeps losing the signal every few seconds even with the band cranked tight on my head. I tried the dry sensor fix and the firmware update and neither did a thing, and now the guy stopped answering my texts. Turns out these things have a gel pad that dries out if you don't use them, and replacement parts cost almost as much as the headset. Anyone know if there is a way to revive these things or did I just pay $400 for a plastic headband?
Did your buddy try soaking the gel pads in a little water? My friend bought one at a garage sale with the same dead signal thing and he said dabbing a drop of water on each pad actually brought it back for a while. Still kinda flaky after that but at least it wasn't a total brick.
