Just realized my Muse headband isn't cutting it for focused BCI work
I've been using this Muse headband for EEG stuff for about 8 months now and kept hitting a wall with signal noise. Last week I finally borrowed a friend's OpenBCI Cyton board to test side by side. The difference in data quality was night and day even though the Muse costs $300 and the Cyton is like $500 used. Now I'm stuck deciding if I should drop the cash on a Cyton or try to mod my Muse with dry electrodes. Has anyone else made this switch and regretted it?

Oh man, I gotta gently push back on saying the Cyton is "like $500 used." Actually the used ones usually pop up closer to $700 or even $800 depending on what accessories they come with. I stalked those listings for weeks before giving up and just buying a new one on sale for $900ish. The dry electrode mod on the Muse is a fun project but you'll still be fighting that 50hz noise floor. I did the whole Teensy+dry electrode hack on my old Muse and it helped a little but the Cyton's active shielding is a whole different league.
