That neurofeedback specialist in Austin told me I was overtraining my alpha waves

I spent 6 months doing daily BCI meditation sessions trying to boost my alpha wave power. A specialist at a clinic in Austin reviewed my data and said my alpha levels were actually too high, causing drowsiness and slow reaction times. She recommended I focus on beta wave training for 20 minutes instead of 30. After 2 weeks of that schedule, my focus at work improved a ton and I wasn't nodding off during the day. Has anyone else found that balancing different wave types works better than just maxing out one?

My kids would definitely pass out from too much alpha wave training.

Oh man I used to think the same thing honestly. But then I actually read into how alpha waves work and its more about a relaxed state than some kind of intense brain training. Its not like they're going to be knocked out cold or anything. I remember being really skeptical at first until I saw how calm and focused some kids get during those guided alpha wave sessions.
