Am I the only one who pre-wets bricks in hot weather?
It stops the mortar from drying too fast. Just a quick dip before laying. Makes a huge difference in bond strength.

Yeah that's such a good point about prep work. I see it everywhere, like rinsing a dish before it goes in the washer so the gunk doesn't bake on. Those little extra steps just stop bigger headaches later on.

Betty's light spray idea sounds good in theory, but a quick dip soaks the whole brick evenly. That full soak stops it from pulling water out of the mortar too fast. You get a stronger bond that way, right?
