Blew through a pallet of brick on a 60-foot wall, tried reusing chipped ones to save time

Last Tuesday on a job in Austin, I ran out of full bricks with 12 feet left to lay, so I started patching with the chipped ones from the reject pile and the homeowner's inspector walked by mid-wall, asked me 'you gonna leave it like that?' and I had to tear down 18 courses and wait 2 days for a reorder, anyone else ever gamble on scrap to dodge a delivery delay and regret it?
