I swapped my 4 ft level for a 2 ft on a fireplace job in Tulsa and the brickwork came out straighter
Last week I was laying a fireplace surround in Tulsa and grabbed my 4 ft level like always, but the joints kept reading off by a hair no matter how many times I checked. So I set it aside and used a 2 ft level just on each course, tapping and re-checking as I went. By the time I hit the top, the whole face was dead plumb, which never happens for me on a job that tall. Turns out the long level was rocking on one high brick and lying to me the whole time. Has anyone else had a level give bad reads and how did you figure it out?
