Yeah, no kidding. Tried to freehand a brick walkway once and it looked like a toddler did it after a few feet. The lines just start to wander on you. A story pole is one of those things that seems like extra work until you actually use it. Then you realize it saves you more time fixing mistakes. Total game changer for keeping everything level and even.
