My weirdest cheap meal win was a can of chickpeas and a packet of taco seasoning

I mean, I was broke last Thursday and my pantry was basically empty except for these things. I just drained the chickpeas, mashed them up a bit in a pan with the seasoning and some water, and cooked it for like 10 minutes. It made a shockingly decent filling for three tacos with some old lettuce. Has anyone else tried something this random that actually worked out okay?

Shockingly decent" is doing a lot of work there. It's chickpeas and a flavor packet, not some culinary miracle. People act like throwing two random things together is a life hack. It's just food, you were hungry and you ate. It's not that deep.

Totally agree, it's just a can of beans with some powder. Feels like people want a gold star for making the most basic meal possible. Calling it a hack just shows how low the bar is for cooking now. We're acting like opening a can and mixing in a packet is some kind of genius move. It's fine, it's food, but let's not pretend it's anything special.

So my "hack" of putting hot sauce on instant noodles is basically a PhD thesis now, right?
